HIBDON HOOKED

Guido Hibdon was simply put, a legend of the sport of bass fishing. He earned a reputation as a top-notch bass angler on Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, where he began guiding at the incredibly young age of 12. After turning pro in 1980, he went on to win the Bassmaster Classic in 1988 and BASS Angler of the Year in both 1990 and 1991. His FLW Tour career has culminated in several wins and numerous top-10 tournament finishes. Known as the “Professor of Finesse”, Hibdon has passed his fishing ways down throughout his family to his son, Dion, and his grandsons, Payden and Lawson.

Guido died in March of 2018 leaving Dion, Payden, and Lawson to carry on his legacy.

Dion Hibdon is one of the few anglers who have accomplished the incredible task of winning both a Forrest Wood Cup and a Bassmaster Classic. Hibdon began fishing the FLW Tour in 1996 and has fished at every level of competition with FLW. Fishing is a family affair for the Hidbons as Dion is the son of legendary FLW Tour angler Guido Hibdon. But Guido isn’t the only one in Dion’s family to fish – Dion’s sons Payden and Lawson also fish on Tour. Hibdon’s favorite weapon on the water is a jig, and he says he’s never had a job except for professional fishing. Guido and Dion made history as the only father and son to ever win a Bassmaster Classic. Dion won the title in 1997. When Hibdon is not competing out on the water, he enjoys hunting and spending time with family.

Payden is one of the third generation anglers and will be competing against his father, Dion, and brother, Lawson on tour. Payden has many accomplishments, including but not limited to, 2006 Junior Bassmaster Champion and The  Phoenix Bass Fishing League Super Tournament Champion. When Payden isn't fishing he enjoys spending time with his wife (Randa) and daughter (Piper), hunting, and helping Randa with their  Bar  "Another Round' in their hometown Versailles.

Lawson is the second-third generation angler of the Hibdons. He enjoys cooking for his wife (Bonnie) and son (Truman) and in his free time you can find him on the water or in the garage pouring jigs and working on his tackle.
